By holding out for a 0-0 draw against Brighton on Tuesday, Nottingham Forest managed to escape the bottom of the Premier League, while Wilfried Zaha’s goal handed Crystal Palace a 2-1 victory over Wolves.
Forest, who are making their first-ever top-flight appearance in 23 years, still only have one victory, but they were happy to leave the Amex with a point after Brighton controlled the match.
Inability to capitalize on opportunities lost Brighton the game, and the Seagulls are still searching for their first victory under new manager Roberto de Zerbi.
Leandro Trossard struck the crossbar in the first period, but Dean Henderson twice stopped him and stopped Pascal Gross with a superb late save.
De Zerbi said, “I don’t want to talk about the outcome as if it’s unjust or unfortunate.
“We definitely need to work on the last 20 meters, choose the best option for the final 25 meters, and work on coming up with new ideas.”
Even though Forest failed to register a single shot on goal, Steve Cooper’s team was still able to move a point above Leicester at the bottom of the standings thanks to only their second shutout of the year.
Cooper said, “It’s progress.
“If we see the game as a whole, we must be content with a point.”
After squandering the advantage at Selhurst Park, Wolves are still just one point above the bottom three teams.
Just after the half-hour mark, Adama Traore headed home Hugo Bueno’s cross for Wolves’ fifth league goal in 11 games this season.
Eberechi Eze’s goal from Michael Olise’s cross, which he headed in at the back post, gave Palace its third victory this season after coming from behind.
At the 20-minute mark, Zaha calmly received a pass from Odsonne Edouard and slid the ball past Jose Sa to seal the comeback.
Patrick Vieira’s team moves up to 10th after the win.
