Melbourne: Koala-clad Extinction Rebellion protestors block intersection

Melbourne’s streets are in disarray as Extinction Rebellion demonstrators blockade a major crossroads to voice their opposition to tree-logging.

At about noon on Wednesday, more than 100 demonstrators gathered at the junction of Bourke and Queen Street, with one protester being arrested by police.

One of the climate change campaigners donned a Daniel Andrews mask while simulating chopping down a tree with a fake chainsaw while others were decked up as koalas.

A guy sporting a koala hat was spotted being handcuffed by Victoria Police as other demonstrators blocked multiple highways in both directions.

Two protestors participated in the rallies while hanging from a teepee and brandishing a banner that said, “Native logging Means Extinction.”
