A 16-year-old boy has been charged with robbery after punching a guy at the Blackpool Prom.

A guy in his forties is shown on video being asked for a smoke before being robbed.

The wounded guy had many shattered bones and extensive lacerations.

Police said that the presence of a suspected accomplice recording the incident “aggravates” it.

A 16-year-old was remanded in jail after being charged with robbery after’shocking’ video of a man being battered surfaced.

A 16-year-old girl suspected of filming the event has also been detained.

The footage of the incident shows a guy in his forties sitting “totally defenseless” and “minding his own business” on Blackpool Promenade on Wednesday morning.

Another guy approaches him and begs for a “spare cigarette” before yelling at him near the Lifeboat Station in the coastal town.

The guy reportedly gave the kid the cigarette he was smoking, but the youth wanted “everything” and beat him unconscious when he did not comply with his demands.

The assailant then begins aggressively kicking and beating the victim before seizing his bag.

Police in Lancashire said that the man had several fractured bones and severe scratches and bruises, but ‘luckily’ no life-threatening injuries.

A senior officer said that it was “very lucky” that the assault did not result in a “murder investigation.”

Det. Supt. Becky Smith said that the amount of aggression shown by the suspect in the video is, in her words, “very distressing and unacceptable.”

According to detectives, a 16-year-old boy appeared in Blackpool Magistrates’ Court today and will appear in Blackpool Youth Court on September 15 to face robbery charges related to the incident.

This evening, officers also detained a 16-year-old girl on charges of robbery plot. She remains detained.

Near the Blackpool Lifeboat Station, a second guy approaches him and requests a cigarette, then begins to yell at him.

The assailant then begins aggressively kicking and beating the victim before seizing his bag.

The man has several fractured bones and extensive scratches and bruises, but ‘luckily’ no life-threatening injuries, according to the Lancashire police.

The frightening video depicts a little child, wearing a hat, a black shirt, and grey shorts, approaching the guy as he sits alone and smokes on a step.

The youngster yells, “I simply wanted to ask if you had a spare cigarette.” That is all I f****** want, young man. I want a cigarette, period.

The guy encourages the teenager to “relax down” and hands him his cigarette.

He accepts it and replies, “Sure, I’ll take it.” You realize why? Because I really want it. Now run me all of your s*** immediately. Everything, young man. You think I’m f****** kidding, young man?

The guy attempts to calm him down, but the boy’s response is, “Why the f****** should I calm down?”

The victim begs, “That was my last cigarette,” but the kid answers with a vicious head kick that knocks the victim to the ground.

He stands over him and repeatedly punches him in the face while yelling, “Did I f****** ask what your last cigarette was?” Did I f****** ask? Now, f****** give me your f****** bag.

In a statement to Lancs Live, a force spokeswoman said, ‘We posted earlier today about the distressing footage of the guy being beaten and robbed on The Prom, and we informed you that a 16-year-old lad was detained and charged with robbery.

He has now appeared in magistrates’ court and been remanded in jail. The next time he is scheduled to appear at Blackpool Youth Court is on September 15.

‘We also wanted to inform you that a 16-year-old girl was detained this afternoon on suspicion of robbery plot. We think she was the one who recorded the event on camera. She is now detained.

Some have questioned why the youngster has been charged with larceny. Robbery is a heinous crime that carries a potential sentence of life in prison.

The Blackpool tower is a well-known landmark opposite the seafront on the Golden Mile in Blackpool.

The crime is committed when the perpetrator threatens or uses physical force against the victim.

“After reviewing all the evidence, we will, of course, examine any further charges that may be justified.”

Again, we would want to emphasize that such levels of violence will not be accepted in our communities, and that those who conduct such horrible acts will be mercilessly pursued.

Det. Supt. Smith said, ‘The amount of aggression shown by this suspect against a perfectly defenseless individual who is seated and doing his own business is really incredibly unsettling and reprehensible.’

This crime is worsened by the fact that an accomplice chose to stand close and video this heinous conduct without making any effort to intervene or provide aid to the victim, who is obviously gravely hurt.

Detective Superintendent Becky Smith said, “The amount of aggression shown by this suspect against a perfectly defenseless individual who is seated and doing his own business is, to put it bluntly, highly frightening and reprehensible.”

The fact that an accomplice chose to stand close and video this terrible occurrence without attempting to intervene or provide aid to the victim, who is obviously gravely hurt, makes this crime even more heinous.

“In my almost 29 years of police in Blackpool, I have observed some incredibly painful and upsetting occurrences, and we are extremely lucky that I am not heading a murder investigation and offering assistance to a grieving family today.”

“The fact that this is not the case has no influence on the behavior of the defendant, who left the victim gravely wounded without concern for his situation.” Whoever believes that this kind of violence is acceptable is mistaken, and we will not allow it in our communities.

I will guarantee that the perpetrators of the most heinous crimes committed against our communities are identified and brought to justice.

I would want to thank individuals who have provided us with information and ask anybody with further details or who observed this event to come forward.

Anyone with information is requested to phone the police at 101 and reference 31 August log 0200, or call Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
