The BBC has announced that Walford will air a funeral episode for Dot Cotton following June Brown’s passing. June Brown, who portrayed Dot Cotton for almost 30 years, passed away in April at the age of 95. Residents of Albert Square will attend her character’s television funeral. Brown was the first actress to carry an entire episode of EastEnders on her own.

The BBC has announced that a special episode of EastEnders will pay tribute to the late June Brown.

The people of Albert Square will gather for the funeral of her character Dot Branning, who moved to Ireland in 2020 after leaving Walford.

June was always insistent that she didn’t want Dot’s time to end while she was still with us, but she also understood that EastEnders would say their goodbyes to Dot at the appropriate time.

He continued, “Unfortunately, the moment has come, and we are committed to giving the audience, who has cherished Dot for so many years, the tribute she so richly deserves.”

Brown joins the serial opera in the 40th episode of 1985. She took a hiatus from 1993 until 1997.
