KZN DOT launches the youth program to train them to repair flood-damaged and other aging infrastructure

As part of the official launching of the youth program, participants from the Vukayibambe Routine Road Maintenance fixed a pothole in the Dannhauser Local Municipality (21 June 2022).

The launch, which took place during Youth Month, was officiated by Sibonelo Mtshali, Chairperson of the Transport Portfolio Committee, who was joined by Mayors, Councillors, traditional leaders, and Siboniso Mbhele, the Transport Head of Department.

This program aims to teach and skill young people how to perform small road repairs and maintenance, such as pothole patching, road marking, grass cutting, and other related tasks.

Flood-damaged infrastructure and roads (blacktop and gravel) that have reached the end of their useful life will be prioritized. The initiative is now being implemented in all districts.
