Banyana star congratulates Cesane on joining Mexico’s premier league

Banyana Banyana star Jermaine Seoposenwe greeted Noxolo Cesane in Mexico after she signed a short-term contract with Liga MX Femenil champions Tigres Femenil on Thursday.

Cesane made the surprise transfer from French club Stade de Reims to English side Chelsea after just seven appearances.

Seoposenwe utilized social media to congratulate the 22-year-old skilled forward on joining Mexico’s premier division.

FC Juarez, managed by Seoposenwe, is currently in fifth place with nine points, while Cesane’s Tigres are in second place with 12 points.

The duo was a key part of the Banyana squad coached by Desiree Ellis that won the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) in Morocco.

Ellis will rely largely on her overseas-based players when South Africa takes the spotlight at the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup in July in Australia and New Zealand.

Ellis also had a boost with the return of standout forward Thembi Kgatlana, who had been recovering from a severe injury sustained at the WAFCON competition.

Cesane hopes to make his debut for Tigres against Atletico San Luis at Estadio Universitario on Tuesday, and could play against Seoposenwe’s FC Juarez on Saturday of the following week.
