Banyana Banyana to receive glamorous welcome in SA after winning WAFCON

The country has been urged by the Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture to greet Banyana Banyana when they arrive from Morocco at OR Tambo International Airport after winning the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) competition.

The team’s 2-1 victory over Morocco on Saturday was evidence of the significant advancements made in women’s soccer across the continent.

“The department is eagerly anticipating the arrival of our girls from Morocco on Tuesday, July 26.

At 9:30 am, they touch down at OR Tambo International Airport. Show your love by coming.

Nathi Mthethwa, the minister of sport, arts, and culture, congratulated the squad on their victory.

The fact that Banyana Banyana was the only one still standing when everything was said and done is especially delightful.

Being back at the top of African football for the first time since 1996 gives South African football a wonderful feeling.

“Along with praising Desiree Ellis and her victorious heroines, I also want to applaud the leadership of the South African Football Association (SAFA) for having the foresight to provide incentives as motivation to the teams.

Finally, we appreciate SASOL and other sponsors for supporting our ladies, the Minister said.
