Banyana Banyana players receive huge cash gifts from Minister Mthethwa

Players of Banyana Banyana are making huge money. After arriving in Mzansi on Tuesday morning, the women received further compensation from the government.

Earlier this week in Rabat, the team defeated Morocco 2-1 to win the WAFCON championship for the first time, as previously reported on The South African website.

On Tuesday morning at OR Tambo, when the women arrived home, Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa was prepared with a surprise that cost millions of dollars.

Mthethwa literally gave the Banyana squad an R5.8 million cheque.

The ladies won an additional R9.2 million from the South African Football Association (SAFA) and an additional R8.4 million award from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), according to renowned local journalist Nqobile Ndlovu.
