Sport Minister Nathi Mthethwa gives financial boost to Banyana Banyana following WAFCON triumph.

Following their victory in the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Nathi Mthethwa, the Minister of Sport, has awarded Banyana Banyana a cash boost.

Tuesday saw Desire Ellis and her crew arrive from Morocco, and officials and supporters of the game gave them the warm greeting they deserved.

Banyana Banyana won the WAFCON championship on Saturday after defeating the hosts Morocco 2-1 in the final.

As a result, they received the R9.2 million bonus that the South African Football Association had promised them (SAFA).

At the OR Tambo International Airport, Banyana Banyana received an R5.8 million check from Mthethwa on behalf of the Sport, Arts, and Culture department.

WHAT AMOUNT OF BONUSES BANYANA WILL NOW GET

The recently crowned African Queens will receive nearly twice as much as was promised to them before to the start of the WAFCON finals.

The R15 million in bonuses that Banyana Banyana now hold will be divided among the 23 tournament participants.

Accordingly, each participant will get little more than R650 000 for their contributions to the continental championship in Morocco.
