Banyana Banyana thrashed again by Brazil. This time 6 to nothing

Brazil traveled to South Africa to take on Banyana Banyana in two international friendlies. The eight-time champions of the Copa América Femenina defeated the recently crowned African champions 3-0 in the first friendly match between the two teams this past weekend at the Orlando Stadium, and they improved on that performance on Monday with a 6-0 thumping.

Both sides are utilizing the matches as part of their preparations for the Women’s World Cup, which will be held in Australia and New Zealand next year. Banyana Banyana and Brazil both qualified for the competition.

Although Banyana would surely have gained a lot from these two matches, it’s still a regrettable outcome.

Banyana Banyana’s coach, Pia Sundhage, has continued to maintain their level of competition before Monday’s match.

“They [Banyana Banyana] are the best team in Africa, to begin with, and if the coach [Ellis] continues with the good job she has been doing with the team, things will be very interesting during the World Cup,” said Sundhage.

“I think some of the players are very interesting, so is the team’s playing style. It could be very interesting. Banyana Banyana are a very good team and I am absolutely sure that Coach Desiree will continue to make them even better going to the World Cup.”

“It has been very nice playing here. South Africa is just an amazing place,” she said.
