Avril Lavigne handles topless protester with ease at Juno Awards

At the 2023 Juno Awards on Monday, Avril Lavigne handled a topless protester with ease, telling the woman to “get the f–k off” the stage.

The incident occurred while Lavigne was introducing performer AP Dhillon at the Canadian award show.

The protester crashed the stage with a message written on her back that read “SAVE THE GREEN BELT,” an apparent reference to a controversial development plan by the Ontario government.

Initially, Lavigne ignored the protester but then turned around and swatted at her chest as she told her to leave.

A male security guard escorted the woman off the stage, and it wasn’t immediately clear if she was kicked out of the venue entirely.

Later in the evening, the host, Simu Liu, praised Lavigne for handling the situation like a champion.

Lavigne went on to accept the TikTok Juno Fan Choice Award, where she joked about the earlier interruption during her speech, saying, “Now nobody try anything this time. I’ll f–k a bitch up.”

Despite being honored at the event, Lavigne’s new beau, Tyga, did not attend the show with her.

The pair recently confirmed their relationship with a kiss at the end of their trip to Paris, where they had been attending Paris Fashion Week events.

Lavigne had called off her engagement to fellow musician Mod Sun, who had proposed to her in Paris.

The 52nd Annual Juno Awards took place at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, where The Weeknd took home five awards and Nickelback was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
