Finding a coffee shop to socialize with friends in Swansea during the evening can be a challenge, according to business owner Gurinder ‘Inder’ Singh.
He opened Chuckaboo, a late-night coffee shop and bar in Swansea’s city center, as a solution to this issue.
Before Chuckaboo’s opening, McDonald’s was the only place to get coffee late at night. Chuckaboo’s front area serves hot drinks from 6 pm to midnight, while its back area and outdoor space serves as a bar area for those who want to have a drink or two.
Inder came to Swansea 20 years ago as an international student, and he said that it’s common in African and Asian countries for people, especially students and young people, to go out for coffee late at night.
Chuckaboo offers affordable drinks and a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for students and locals.
The cafe-bar aims to recreate the old Monkey Bar/Mozarts-style entertainment by hosting live music performances and art exhibits.
Chuckaboo is not trying to cater to the gentrified hipster scene but instead aims to be a welcoming space for everyone who enjoys good music, art, and drinks.
It’s a community-oriented, affordable, and inclusive establishment that provides a platform for local artists and musicians to showcase their talents while offering patrons an enjoyable and relaxed experience.
Chuckaboo can be found on The Strand in Swansea City Centre and is currently open from Wednesday to Sunday from 6 pm to midnight.
