Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) disclaimer regarding articles published on fictitious social media accounts used in the vice chancellor’s name

The Management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has been made aware of the nefarious activities of a scamming syndicate and impostors on Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms.

Using the title of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, these people set out to defraud the public by promising admission placements, employment opportunities, contract awards, and other benefits to throngs of applicants in exchange for a fee.

People in the public should be aware that a reputable university like ours never conducts business on social media sites in light of this heinous incident.

In fact, the Management deems it illegal, strange, and improper for an individual or a group of individuals to collaborate or transact business with anonymous, unidentified people who are not university officers or recognized employees.

As a result, the University completely dissociates itself from these miscreants who seek to harm its reputation through their actions.

We wish to reassure the public that steps are being taken to find the offender(s) and bring them to justice.

There are still official channels for communication with the university:
