A drunk driver wrecked a £70,000 Maserati Levante in Birmingham

The moment an intoxicated Maserati driver crashed his £70,000 supercar into a set of traffic lights in front of bewildered cops is captured on shocking video.

When the collision occurred in Birmingham in October of last year, the inebriated driver was waiting at the intersection of Bristol Street and Bristol Road.

The Maserati Levante attempted to turn right after pulling off, but lost control and hit some railings straight on, as seen by council cameras.

Unfortunately for the driver, a police car was also waiting at the intersection and quickly gave the owner of the 187 mph fancy silver vehicle a breathalyzer reading.

He was given a 12-month driving suspension and penalties of £2,190 after it was discovered that he had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit.

WMP Traffic posted the video on social media and stated: “This movie illustrates the risks associated with drunk driving.

The driver of this Maserati was detained after crashing into one of our patrols on Bristol Street in Birmingham while driving a vehicle that was twice the legal limit.

He received a one-year driving suspension, a total fine of £2,190, and a guilty verdict.

The driver can be seen on camera initially carefully navigating the traffic signals before failing to make the right turn and slamming into a post.

A police vehicle drives up behind the damaged machine and turns on its blue lights a few yards distant.

As the camera flips to footage from a body-worn device, we see the driver exiting his car with just minor wounds and staggering around.

Police on Sunday shared the video on social media, where commenters criticized the motorist, claiming he had “more money than wisdom.”

People won’t understand that driving while intoxicated is dangerous unless they are given a life sentence or a very large fine, according to Steven Bole.

Right in front of a police cruiser, a another caller said. Excellent timing.

Asma Parvez said on her blog: “Not only was he fined and banned. He will pay extra for the automobile, insurance, and everything else.

‘Perhaps next time, don’t drive after drinking. Could have resulted in a fatality.

According to user PenaltyTicket, “money brings entitlement, and entitlement brings privilege, and privilege brings the freedom to do anything you want.” NOT.’

“I believe the term’more money than sense’ was developed for this wealthy half-wit,” Brendan Sky commented.

When a police officer is needed, Parm Bilkhu said, “Never one around… wait a minute.”
