In front of startled cops, shocking footage captures the moment an intoxicated Maserati driver rammed his £70,000 supercar into a set of traffic lights.
The intoxicated driver was waiting at the Bristol Street and Bristol Road intersection in Birmingham when the accident occurred in October of last year.
The Maserati Levante was recorded on tape attempting to turn right but losing control and crashing directly into a pair of rails.
Unfortunate for the driver, a police car was also waiting at the intersection and immediately administered a breathalyzer test to the owner of the 187 mph expensive silver automobile.
The drunk driver smashed the £70,000 Maserati Levante into a set of traffic lights in Birmingham, destroying it.
CCTV footage released by authorities over the weekend depicts the horrifying moment the luxury car crashes.
A 12-month driving ban and £2,190 in fines have been issued to him after he was discovered to have twice the maximum blood alcohol level.
WMP Traffic released the video on social media with the caption, ‘This clip illustrates the consequences of drinking and driving.
“The driver of this Maserati was twice the legal limit when he crashed in front of one of our patrols on Bristol Street in Birmingham and was subsequently arrested.”
He was found guilty and given a one-year driving suspension and a total fine of £2,190.
The footage depicts the driver first going slowly through the traffic lights before failing to manage the right turn and crashing through the barriers and into a pole.
A nearby police vehicle activates its blue lights and pulls up behind the damaged vehicle.
The Ferrari was photographed driving through Birmingham in October of last year.
The video flips to footage from a body-worn camera to show the driver exiting his vehicle with minor injuries and standing in a stupor.
Sunday, police shared the video to social media, where users criticized the motorist, claiming he had “more money than sense.”
Steven Bole stated, “Left to me, a life ban and a hefty fine would be the only way for people to realize that drinking and driving do not mix; only then would they realize the harm that drinking and driving causes.”
Another individual who called stated, “In front of a police car! Excellent timing.
The motorist appeared bewildered on police bodycam footage of the aftermath of the collision (shown), which was obtained following the collision.
The vehicle was severely damaged, and the intoxicated driver behind the wheel was twice the legal limit. Now, he has been given a 12-month driving suspension and £2,190 in fines.
The West Midlands Police road traffic squad tweeted to road users, “This video demonstrates the dangers of drinking and driving.” The photograph depicts the aftermath of last year’s disaster.
Asma Parvez wrote: ‘He was not the only one to be banned and fined. He will incur more expenses due to the car’s price and insurance.
Perhaps next time you shouldn’t drink and drive. Could have killed somebody.’
