A bleeding Indigenous teen is arrested in Coraki, NSW

Unsettling video shows an Aboriginal youngster being detained by police for allegedly breaking and entering while covered in blood and seeming to drift in and out of consciousness.

The 14-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was detained on September 11 in Coraki, northern New South Wales, and is shown in a video released online sitting on the ground in handcuffs with blood flowing down his face.

One father soothes the teenager, giving him a hug and putting his head on his chest as the child seems to become unconscious, as distraught family members swarm around him and order the cops to keep their distance.

A lady urges the cops, “Get away, you’ve done enough harm to him.”

As the youngster closes his eyes and starts to nod asleep, another lady can be seen caressing his chest and pleading with him to remain awake.

As the policeman comes and pats the youngster on the back, family members yell, “Get your hand off him!” You’ve taken on enough!

“Now send an ambulance!” He is about to pass out!

The youngster eventually opens his eyes after repeated encouragement to remain awake, and family members drape a handkerchief over his head to stop the bleeding from the wound.

But when pressure is applied to the wound, the youngster screams in agony before finally settling into a whimper, closing his eyes and becoming silent.

In a subsequent video, many paramedics are seen attending to the youngster as he is fitted with a neck brace and transported to the hospital.

Since being shared on Facebook, the video has received more than 110,000 views and 1700 responses.

The family of the youngster who uploaded the video remarked, “Enough is enough.”

Yes, we are aware that they are guilty, but here, detectives are being pursued.

The relative said that “on several times” the police commander had been called.

When the police are there, she said, “We need to teach our mob [to] look after our mob [and] watch out for our mob.”

The child was detained, according to NSW Police, as part of an ongoing investigation into a number of property offenses in the state’s northern region.
