Police have released horrifying photos of an officer who was beaten while on duty and is covered in blood.
A 17-year-old girl has been detained in connection with the attack, which happened in York on Sunday night, according to North Yorkshire Police.
According to the photos, the cop has a three-inch gash to his skull, and blood is seeping into his eyes and down his face.
The police agency said they made the decision to publish the photos in order to demonstrate “the reality” of attacks on officers while they are on duty.
