Police have released horrifying photos of an officer who was beaten while on duty and is covered in blood.

A 17-year-old girl has been detained in connection with the attack, which happened in York on Sunday night, according to North Yorkshire Police.

According to the photos, the cop has a three-inch gash to his skull, and blood is seeping into his eyes and down his face.

The police agency said they made the decision to publish the photos in order to demonstrate “the reality” of attacks on officers while they are on duty.

A 17-year-old woman was detained, according to North Yorkshire Police, on suspicion of assaulting a medical professional and in possession of a Class B narcotic.

She was freed while an inquiry was ongoing.

A thorough investigation is now being conducted, the force stated, adding that “assaults on police personnel will not be allowed on our streets.”

North Yorkshire Police shared the gruesome photographs on Monday through Twitter.

They reported that an officer had been attacked while responding to an incident in York the previous evening (Sunday, September 4).

Anyone who attacks an emergency worker should anticipate prompt, firm response, they continued.

People have expressed their displeasure at the images and their well wishes to the police officer who was attacked.

According to Chief Inspector of York and Selby, Chris Brumfitt, “We take this very seriously” because “an assault on a police officer or an emergency worker is an attack on our family.”

Police officers and emergency personnel do not go to work expecting to be attacked; they are there to protect the people.

Anyone who attacks a police officer in York or North Yorkshire can anticipate prompt and severe retaliation.
