Hours after a concern for welfare call, the body of a 23-year-old constable is discovered in a national park. A NSW police officer was discovered dead in the Royal National Park, south of Sydney. The 23-year-old off-duty officer was discovered shortly before 1 a.m. on Saturday. Prior to his death, the officer was assigned to the Bankstown local area command

The body of a young off-duty police officer thought to have committed suicide has been discovered.

The body of a 23-year-old was discovered in Sydney’s Royal National Park early on Saturday morning, prompting NSW Police to begin a critical incident investigation.

Friday about 10:30 p.m., officers were contacted due to concerns for the welfare of an off-duty police officer.

In response to queries, his body was discovered in a park south of Sydney shortly before 1 a.m. on Saturday.

The 23-year-old was employed by the local area command in Bankstown.

The police have stated that no suspicious circumstances exist.

The Homicide Squad has initiated an investigation into a significant occurrence and will write a report for the Coroner.

Additionally, the Professional Standards Command and the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission will assess the inquiry independently.
