During Paris Fashion Week, 15-year-old Zaya Wade, daughter of Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union, made her runway debut at Miu Miu’s fall/winter 2023 show.
Zaya, who came out as transgender in February 2020, modeled an olive green knit blazer with a matching sweater and pencil skirt, carrying a brown leather bag and sporting matching patent slingback heels.
Her parents, along with family stylist Thomas Christos Kikis, watched proudly from the front row.
Zaya’s debut comes after she was granted an official name and gender change on Feb. 24.
On Instagram, Wade shared his excitement and thanked Kikis for his vision, while Kikis thanked Wade for his endless trust and for centering Zaya’s wants and needs.
Zaya’s catwalk debut was celebrated on social media, with supporters applauding Miu Miu’s correct approach to stunt casting.
Zaya was joined by other famous faces on the runway, including actress Mia Goth, “The Crown” star Emma Corrin, and musician Ethel Cain, as well as Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin’s daughter Amelia Gray Hamlin.
Dwyane Wade wants Zaya to “live more comfortably and honestly in all aspects of her life,” while his ex-wife accused him of “pressuring” their child to “move forward” with a name and gender change “in order to capitalize on financial opportunities.”
