Zakes Bantwini is in sadness following the loss of his father, Sihlangusihle Jeffrey Khanyile, a Grammy Award nominee.
On Monday, the Osama hitmaker, born Zakhele Madida, posted a tribute to his late father on Instagram, accompanied by a broken heart and a dove.
Wednesday, Khanyile passed away at his homestead in Nkandla, in northern KwaZulu-Natal. At the time of his passing, he was 65 years old and was survived by his wife and nine children. No cause of death has been revealed.
His children declared in a joint statement, “We are crushed by the loss of our father. We will miss his wit, his tenacity, and the way he always ensured that we adhered to our culture. His generosity and affectionate personality will be sorely missed.
Bantwini’s wife, Nandi Madida, also paid respect to her late father-in-law in an Instagram post.
“I am eternally grateful for the kindness you extended to me as your daughter-in-law; you made me feel like your daughter-in-love.” We will miss your wicked sense of humor terribly; thank you for making me feel like family and welcome me so graciously. “You are currently with your creator,” she added.
The family has requested prayers and privacy throughout their bereavement period.
