Burna Boy is still disappointed after failing to win a Grammy at this past weekend’s annual awards event.
The international superstar lashed out over social media, claiming he is more deserving than South Africa’s dynamic golden three.
Burna Boy appears to be in a state of disbelief following his recent Grammy defeat against South African artists Zakes Bantwini, Nomcebo Zikode, and Wouter Kellerman. The group received the award for Best Global Music Performance at the 2023 Grammy Awards, held in Los Angeles on February 5 at the Crypto.com Arena.
Burna Boy posted a rant on Instagram, stating, “The Grammys are full of shite and falsehoods. Everyone knows that. Only I am deserving of that filth. They can no longer or never stop me.”
The day after the Grammys, he posted: “Despite having assembled the Avengers for my album, Grammy still chose to shenk me. BTW “My Happiness Still Be My Own,” continued Burna Boy.
The singer is not the only artist dissatisfied with their omission.
Since the Grammys, social media has been abuzz, with some artists, musicians, and creatives praising their victories and others criticizing the Recording Academy.
The Nigerian singer’s Grammy exclusion was viewed especially shocking given his album, Love, Damini, Burna Boy, landed him a slot at Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Volume 4 fashion show, according to ZAlebs.
At the Mzansi’s DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival, over 50,000 people rocked to his music as he was the headlining act.
Grammy winner Black Coffee, another golden star from South Africa, is also a fan. The award-winning DJ posted a photo of a FaceTime conversation with Burna Boy and referred to the singer as “A King…an African Giant.”
