A guy has been charged with a slew of child sex offenses, including allegedly supplying narcotics to at least eight young girls before sexually abusing them.
The 58-year-old male was detained in Cairns on Sunday after a five-month investigation by Far North Queensland detectives revealed the alleged crime.
At least eight girls were allegedly groomed, indecently abused, and given deadly illegal narcotics such as methylamphetamine and cannabis, according to police.
With the exception of one, all of the claimed victims are under the age of 16.
After news of the man’s alleged atrocities surfaced in January, Operation Uniform Kalahari was formed to investigate.
On Sunday, a guy was arrested in Cairns after extensive investigations.
The girls’ families are being helped, according to police.
‘The victims’ incredible bravery in coming forward and speaking with police helps the police to track down these criminals and prosecute them,’ Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Gooiker said.
‘All allegations of crimes against minors will be investigated, and accused criminals will be arrested and charged with the full power of the law.’
The man was charged with 11 counts of supplying drugs to a minor under 16, six counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16, two counts each of supply drugs and possess drugs and one count each of grooming, attempt to procure indecent treatment, possession of S4 poison and possession of a drug utensil.
On Tuesday, he appeared in Cairns Magistrates Court, where he was denied bail and told to return on August 3.
