YouGov poll reveals a decline in Annastacia Palaszczuk’s satisfaction rating

A recent survey reveals that Annastacia Palaszczuk’s approval rating has sunk into negative territory, indicating that Queenslanders are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with their premier. The Queensland Premier's popularity has sunk into the negatives, now with a net rating of -1

The most recent YouGov poll, which was obtained by the Courier-Mail, found that Ms. Palaszczuk now has a net satisfaction rating of -1, the first time it has fallen to such a low level since before the pandemic.

There is a concerning downward trend in the premier’s popularity, with 41% of her constituents dissatisfied with her performance and 40% expressing satisfaction.

During the 2020 state election, Ms. Palaszczuk earned an amazing 57 percent satisfaction rating, a figure that has been steadily declining this year.

In February, a YouGov poll indicated that the premier’s approval rating was 50%, but by June, it had slipped to 45%.

In the most recent survey, conducted last week, she received only 40% of the vote.

The 40% satisfaction rate is lower than that of her predecessor, Campbell Newman, who suffered a stunning electoral defeat in 2015.

During his 2015 campaign, former Liberal premier Newman’s satisfaction rating was 41%, but his net result was -11%, with 52% unsatisfied.

Prior to the 2012 election wipeout, Anna Bligh’s satisfaction rating was 43%, with a net score of -9.

Since June, opposition leader David Crisafulli’s satisfaction rating has stayed at 31%.

This year, Liberal Leader David Crisafulli (above) has maintained a 31% approval rating.

39% of Queenslanders say Ms. Palaszczuk would be the superior premier, while 28% support Mr. Crisafulli, according to a recent survey.

One-third of voters remain undecided on the issue.

Earlier in the year, tensions escalated between the premier and her opponent as Ms. Palaszczuk was criticized for routinely attending glamorous social events.

Mr. Crisafulli declared that Ms. Palaszczuk was engaging in “the same old games, over and over again… red carpet, glamor, glamour, and no vision.”

The prime minister emphasized that she was on top of her responsibilities and that attending high-profile events was “part of her job.”

Due to her frequent attendance at glamorous social gatherings, Ms. Palaszczuk’s commitment to her job was called into question.

Four in ten residents of the state do not have an opinion on how the Opposition Leader is performing, providing Mr. Crisafulli with an opportunity to gain ground.

On October 26, 2024, Queenslanders will cast ballots.

Two police officers and an innocent neighbor were gunned murdered on a secluded bush property in Wieambilla on Monday, prompting the premier to express her condolences and express her support for the victims.

She stated on Tuesday, “This is a sad incident, and on behalf of the entire state of Queensland, I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the two young constables who were tragically killed.”

They were such children. So young. They were quite courageous. These were incredibly cruel and heinous deeds. And with distinction, they served.
