Pictures of young children being abused by adults were on the phone of a “lonely” mother who operated a fetish Facebook page where she posted photos of herself.

Mother-of-two According to the Liverpool ECHO, Julie Barnes, 57, of Widnes, Cheshire, operated an explicit Facebook profile under the alias “Rosie Cheek” that has since been deleted.

Before officers tracked the IP address to Barnes’ home and showed up on December 23, 2021, they were made aware of suspicious behavior on a pornographic Facebook page she managed.

She was spoken to and denied knowing anything about the pictures, but her Samsung phone was taken. Barnes was not detained, but her phone was analyzed, and it was found that the pictures were “cached,” which means they had been erased.

She couldn’t see the pictures then, but she had seen them before, though it was impossible to say precisely when.

Mr. Jones testified before the court that the pictures depicted girls between the ages of seven and nine being sexually assaulted by an adult male and a child between the ages of five and six being sexually assaulted by a woman.

In a prepared statement that she gave for an interview in September 2022, Barnes acknowledged receiving the pictures on her Facebook “fetish” account.

The prosecuting attorney, Mr. Derek Jones, stated that there was no proof that Barnes had looked for these kinds of images on her own and that May 2021 was the last time it was certain that she had viewed the pictures she had been sent.

She was discovered with a total of 33 category C pictures, 8 category B images, and 6 category A images. Three of the banned images were characterized as computer-generated cartoons or drawings.

She has never been convicted of a crime before. Jim Smith, the defense attorney, emphasized that his client fully accepted her wrongdoing but did not seek out these pictures.

He claimed that because of her physical and mental health issues, she was lonely and isolated, which led to the scenario.

She made an appearance today (February 23) at Liverpool Crown Court and entered a guilty plea to three counts of making indecent images of children, one count of having prohibited images of children, and one count of possessing indecent images of children.

Barnes was given an 18-month community order and told to participate in 20 days of therapy. She will also be subject to a five-year notice period and a sexual harm prevention order.
