The SA20 League Commissioner, Graeme Smith, praised the cricket-loving South African fans: “The first half of the SA20 has been a huge success, and it has been incredible to see the stadiums packed with people.
“It’s exciting that we’ve sold out the final so early in the competition, but we still have a long way to go until February 11.” As there is little difference between the clubs at this point in the standings, we hope that supporters will continue to support their teams in large numbers until the final.
“We have witnessed some fantastic cricket and thrilling finishes; the remaining matches will be a treat for spectators.”
Only a victory will separate the top and lowest teams on the route to the championship, thus competition will be fierce.
Current table leaders are the Pretoria Capitals with 13 points, followed by the Sunrisers Eastern Cape with 12 points. Only one point separates third-place MI Cape Town, fourth-place Paarl Royals, fifth-place Durban Super Giants, and sixth-place Joburg Super Kings (sixth).
This weekend’s action-packed program includes two doubleheaders in Paarl and Gqeberha on Saturday and Sunday, so the table places are expected to continue to fluctuate.
