Video shows man assaulting woman during Carnival brawl

Earlier last month, chaos broke out beside the pool aboard a Carnival Cruise ship.

A frightening new video has surfaced that shows two parties arguing verbally near the Tides Bar next to the pool aboard the Carnival Sunrise ship.

The verbal altercation, which included some shoving and pushing, finally becomes quite physical.

The violence concludes with a guy leaning over a lady and beating her while she is on the ground.

Before the cruise line’s security staff steps in and starts to separate the groups while the yelling continues, the battle lasts for at least a minute.

The altercation, according to Laura Bryant, the person who submitted the video on TikTok and who also happens to be a 911 dispatcher, was over “a seat and personal space.”

Bryant may be heard saying that a lady lost her wig in the fighting at one point.

According to Bryant, the altercation happened on September 9th, a Friday. It’s unclear precisely where the ship was when the conflict started.

Records indicate that the Carnival Sunrise stopped in Miami, Florida, Grand Cayman Island, and Ocho Rio, Jamaica, all around the time of the beating.

One witness to the event commented on the post, “You had to be there,” noting, “All I know is, I was filling my cup full with lemonade then bam, they started knuckling and buckling.”

They fled the area immediately before the brawl, according to a different witness. That witness said that one of the groups was playing cards when he arrived, and that everyone was “vibing” when he left.

Another commentator said that the cruise companies should establish heavy penalty for people that engage in altercations. These films are affecting the cruise industry’s ability to draw in new passengers and may be deterring seasoned travellers as well.

Other commentators criticised the ship’s excessive alcohol consumption, and one called Carnival the “Spirit Airlines of the sea.”

Since October 1999, the Sunrise has been a member of the Carnival fleet. The ship has a capacity of 3,000 passengers and a crew of 1,100.

Disruptive behaviour is not accepted, and any passenger whose behaviour interferes with the pleasure, safety, or well-being of other passengers or crew members will be required to exit at their own cost and will not be permitted to sail on a Carnival ship again.

Back in June, while the Carnival Magic was returning to New York City, a large fight broke out, leading the Coast Guard to accompany the ship to land and the NYPD to launch an investigation.

On the penultimate night of the Carnival Magic’s eight-day Caribbean cruise, which included stops in Dominicana, Turks and Caicos, and the Bahamas, the brawl broke out in the nightclub at about 5.20 in the morning.

An outnumbered ship security officer attempts in vain to break up the brawl as scores of passengers hit and push one another in the video of the altercation.

According to PIX11, the battle began as a dispute between two passengers on the dance floor and escalated into a fight involving up to 40 to 60 people. There were no reportedly major injuries.

It is unclear whether the ship was in New York, New Jersey, or international seas when the fight broke out, making the question of criminal jurisdiction confusing. The battle happened as the ship entered the New York port.

Following the altercation, no arrests were made, and it wasn’t clear which agency would oversee the inquiry.

Following the altercation, cruise line representatives informed the Coast Guard, which, according to WNBC-TV, deployed a boat from Staten Island to accompany the ship to dock in Manhattan.
