The bodies of a husband and wife were discovered in a Colorado Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall on Christmas morning, with “suspicious devices” also discovered at the grim scene, according to police.

Police in Thornton, Colorado, reported that a husband fatally shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself around 9 a.m. at the city’s 11-mile-from-Denver Kingdom Hall.

The unidentified man and woman were former members of the Kingdom Hall congregation, according to police, who added that the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Hazardous Materials Unit was also investigating “suspicious devices” discovered at the scene.

Initially, police tweeted that there was a large presence of law enforcement at Kingdom Hall, but there was no active threat to the community.

The Thornton Fire Department initially responded to a reported fire at the Kingdom Hall, but upon arrival, they discovered a “domestic issue,” according to the department’s public information officer in an interview with ABC 7 Denver.

The police were then dispatched to the scene to assume control.

The news station also reported that Adams County Fire Rescue stated the incident was of a domestic nature, but did not provide further details.

According to ABC 7 Denver, there were several police and fire vehicles at Kingdom Hall.
