Suspected gunman and seven others dead in shooting at Jehovah’s Witness hall in Germany

On Thursday evening, a shooting at a Kingdom Hall building in the German city of Hamburg resulted in the deaths of eight people, including the suspected gunman.

The motive behind the attack is not yet known, and it is unclear why the Jehovah’s Witnesses centre was targeted.

Those attending a religious service at the building were among several people injured during the attack.

According to a statement from Hamburg police, some of the injured are in serious condition.

In response to the shooting, Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned the act of violence and expressed his condolences for the victims and their families.
