Tshwane Metro Police Department cable theft unit takes action to curb cable theft | new cable theft number

The City of Tshwane is concerned about the recent increase in cable theft and vandalism. The City is committed to combating infrastructure vandalism and has formed a Cable Theft Unit inside the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD).

The TMPD Cable Theft Unit has been working around the clock to increase patrols in locations where cable theft is most prevalent. In addition, the unit has collaborated with other law enforcement authorities to address this issue. Arrests have recently been made, and cables worth more than R1.5 million have been recovered.

The City has now established a new hotline number in the client support centre where community members and the general public can immediately report cable theft issues. Gezina also has a walk-in client care centre where you may report cable theft.

The following are the updated cable theft number and walk-in centre details:

  • Call the cable theft hotline at 012 358 1550.
  • Address for walk-in customer service centre: SANAB Building, cnr Frederika and Johan Heyns Street, Gezina

All reported information will be kept strictly confidential.
