Tragedy strikes in the search for five missing people

Tragedy struck in the search for five missing individuals, as Gwent Police located the car they had been travelling in near Cardiff and discovered that three of them had died.

The group, consisting of Sophie Russon, Eve Smith, Darcy Ross, Rafel Jeanne, and Shane Loughlin, had been last seen in a Volkswagen Tiguan in the early hours of Saturday morning, travelling from Porthcawl to the capital.

Officers located the vehicle in the St Mellons area, where they believe it had been involved in a road traffic collision and had gone off the A48.

While two of the individuals were transported to the hospital with serious injuries, three were found dead. Gwent Police are currently carrying out enquiries and have stated that specialist officers are supporting the affected families.
