Total Cancellation Advocated by Dino Melaye Amid Allegations of Electoral Manipulation

Dino Melaye Calls for Total Cancellation Amid Result Controversy

Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 Kogi State governorship election, has raised concerns over the electoral process, alleging that the results are being manipulated in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a concise statement shared via his social media account, Melaye emphasized the need for the complete cancellation of the off-cycle election held on November 11, 2023.

Claims of Cooked Results in Okene Local Government

Backing his assertions, Melaye shared an election result sheet from Okene, one of the local government areas in Kogi State.

He pointed out that Okene Local Government alone recorded an astounding 138,416 votes for the APC. Expressing his disapproval of what he deemed a “cooked result,” Melaye firmly stated that such outcomes are unacceptable and insisted that total cancellation is the only appropriate response.

Defeat in Ijumu Local Government Area

Earlier reports revealed Melaye’s defeat in his own local government area of Ijumu. According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) results, the APC candidate, Usman Ododo, secured victory with 10,524 votes, while Melaye garnered 6,909 votes.

This outcome further fueled Melaye’s call for the nullification of the entire election.

Conclusion: Heightening Tensions in Kogi’s Electoral Landscape

Dino Melaye’s demand for the total cancellation of the Kogi State governorship election adds a layer of tension to the unfolding political scenario.

As the controversy surrounding alleged result manipulation grows, the electoral landscape remains a focal point of scrutiny and debate.
