Liz Truss receives applaud at Lib Dem conference in 1994 when she advocated abolishing the Monarchy.

Liz Truss, then 19 years old, received praise from the Lib Dem convention in 1994 for supporting a motion advocating for republicanism in the UK.

Miss Truss was caught on camera discussing how she polled a group of three “reactionary-looking” people who told her they had “had enough” of the Royal Family.

The now 46-year-old Foreign Secretary, who formerly served as the head of the Liberal Democrats at Oxford University, recently declared that she now recognizes the importance of the Royal Family as “essential” to the UK’s success.

She switched to conservatism in 1996, and now she and former chancellor Rishi Sunak are in the running for the Conservative Party’s leadership.

We Liberal Democrats believe in opportunity for everyone, Miss Truss said in the film broadcast by Newsnight this evening.

Earlier this afternoon, when I was being interviewed by Newsnight, we were filmed asking members of the public what they thought about the monarchy.

“We came across a trio of individuals.

They looked to be in their 50s or 60s.

To be absolutely honest, [they] appeared to be very middle class, intelligent, and even somewhat reactionary.

Do you know what they said when we asked them what they thought of the monarch?

It was said: “Eliminate them. Enough is enough “.’

In the same address, she continued by stating that she shared Paddy Ashdown’s views on the monarchy.

She said in Brighton, “I agree with Paddy Ashdown when he said: “Everybody in Britain should have the potential to be a somebody.”

However, the head of the state can only be provided by one family.

We Liberal Democrats support equal access to opportunities. We don’t think that people are created to be rulers.

When asked about her earlier desire to overthrow the monarchy by Nick Robinson of the BBC, she responded, “I think it’s fair to say that when I was in my youth I was a professional controversialist and I liked investigating ideas and stirring things up.”

“And I come from a left-wing background since, as I mentioned earlier, my mother worked on the nuclear disarmament movement.”

There aren’t many people at my school or in my regular social circle that you’d classify as right-wing; in fact, you could count them on one hand.

I therefore reasoned at the time that this lifestyle is completely different and does not reflect the kind of society I wish to live in.

And I started to comprehend more about why Britain is successful, including how the constitutional monarchy that upholds a free democracy contributes to our prosperity.

She vowed to defeat Labour by “ruling as a true tax-cutting, freedom-loving Conservative” in today’s Daily Mail.

Last night, the Foreign Secretary defeated Penny Mordaunt to go to the final round of the prime ministerial election against Rishi Sunak.

I got into politics, she declared, to end this “soft bigotry of low expectations” and bring about equality of opportunity for everyone.

My strategy is strongly anchored in the aspirational, entrepreneurial, and libertarian Conservative principles that I am aware are shared nationwide.
