Tom Grennan says “Good tackle” as he show off his damaged ankle to call out former French player Patrice Evra

During last night’s Soccer Aid 2022, Tom Grennan suffered a serious injury.

The yearly event brings together celebrities to play a massive charity football match, with England taking on the Rest of the World for the tenth time since Soccer Aid was launched in 2006.

This year’s game was a nail-biter, with The World’s Lee Mack scoring the game-winning goal on penalties.

After then, England took the lead thanks to a goal from the Little Bit Of Love singer, before World XI’s Kem Cetinay scored.

However, the 27-year-old musician used Instagram Stories to show off his damaged ankle and called out former French player Patrice Evra.

‘Good tackle that @patrice.evra,’ he captioned the picture of his injured ankle.

Tom also posted a photo on Twitter of himself on crutches, but he appeared to be in high spirits as he made a humorous face for the camera.

Fans complimented the singer on his outstanding performance on the field and wished him a speedy recovery.

‘Tom, poor you!! Speedy recovery! Rocking the air cast tho!!’ one person commented.

‘Oh no Tom. Hope you recover quickly. You were amazing last night,’ another person added.

Usain Bolt captained the Soccer Aid World XI, who was joined by returnees Martin Compston, Mo Gilligan, Lee, and 2021’s man of the match Kem.

Noah Beck scored the first goal for the World XI, while Mark Wright equalized for England — both on penalties.

Despite scoring the game-winning penalty, Lee kept his cool after discussing his goal, saying, ‘Only touched the ball once when I came on, my penalty!’

Andriy Shevencho of Ukraine and Usain Bolt of Jamaica won the Soccer Aid trophy, and the stars are likely to be overjoyed at the sum earned for Unicef.

Soccer Aid is available to watch on ITV Hub.
