This week, Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni were photographed taking advantage of the weather sweeping through Europe as they lounged on a yacht off the coast of the Balearic islands and took a dip in the water.
The 68-year-old ex-president of France was spotted relaxing with the 54-year-old singer and model, whom he wed in 2008 in Paris, one year after leaving office.
The two had just finished eating at the Moli de Sal restaurant on Illetes Beach on the neighbouring island of Formentera when they hopped on a boat and headed out to sea.
They are now on vacation in Ibiza.
Sarkozy, who appeared youthful for his age, took pleasure in jumping off the boat and swimming in the crystal-clear water before heaving himself back onboard and hugging Bruni.
But in contrast to his wife, who is still a model for well-known design houses at the age of 54, he appeared out of shape.
As part of her “unspeakable efforts” to maintain her appearance, the former First Lady of France stated she works out for two hours every day and follows a tight schedule of elliptical bike, Pilates, and barre exercises.
The singer and model earlier this month discussed returning to the runway for Balmain and appearing in a recent Yves Saint Laurent campaign in an interview with the French magazine Madame Figaro. She admitted that she feels “too old” to model and that it “felt strange” that she felt old enough to be the mother of a younger model she accompanied on set.
The stunning French-Italian woman acknowledged seeking counselling to overcome her aversion to commitment and views her union with former French President Nicolas Sarkozy as a “accomplishment.”
Bruni claimed that while she has no special bond with beauty, she values grace and charm more than “pure beauty.”
I may have a silhouette and a sense of style, but I go to great lengths to maintain my slim figure. I work out for two hours every day, do some barre, elliptical training, and Pilates.
She continued, stating that she was “destabilised” by her return to modelling in YSL and Balmain campaigns after a protracted absence. “Beauty is also an inconvenience,” she said.
She stated she felt too old to model and that it was “bizarre” to realise that she is old enough to be the mother of the other models.
She replied, adding that she was the youngest member of her family, “Actually, I think it’s not of my age anymore.”
When asked about her early years, the model recalled feeling invisible and long and lanky.
She mentioned having a late adolescence, which made her appreciate the attention she received as a 17-year-old at the beach.
She acknowledged that she enjoys pleasing others without having any sexual intentions, and she claimed that doing so is more interesting than being beautiful because beauty ages us.
The singer made a splash when she walked the Balmain runway in 2021 after focusing on her music and charitable endeavours while living at the Elysee Palace as France’s First Lady from 2008 to 2012.
She also appeared in the spring and summer YSL ad campaigns, showcasing her youthful physique in skimpy attire.
She declared that she still has a passion for fashion and views the people she knows in the field as a “second family.”
She stated that being married was crucial for her in relation to her relationship with Sarkozy.
The model said that she had found it difficult to commit, but she credited treatment with helping her deal with these problems. She also praised her marriage to Sarkozy as a major accomplishment.
The model expressed her desire to raise her 10-year-old daughter Giulia by setting an excellent example after posting a photo of the girl on Instagram.
According to Carla, who also has a son named Aurelien with French radio star Aurelien Enthoven, parents who conduct well tend to have well-behaved kids.
Despite being a self-described mother hen, she claimed her favourite traits are kindness and giving since she doesn’t want to micromanage her kids.
According to Bruni, she makes an effort to be a present mother for her kids and to give them the best support possible.
