Carla Bruni edits Harry and Meghan’s picture to include Yoko Ono

In an altered image of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Carla Bruni substituted Yoko Ono for Meghan Markle.

The 55-year-old former French first lady shared the manipulated photograph with the words to The Beatles’ All You Need is Love with her 750,000 followers.

Even the Royal Family was included in the tweet by the wife of Nicolas Sarkozy, which some people welcomed but others criticized as ‘racist’ for drawing comparisons between the two ladies of color and their alleged power on their husbands.

Yoko Ono is sometimes credited as being the primary cause of the Beatles’ breakup, despite the Fab Four’s denials.

Ono was an actress who traveled to the UK to wed into a renowned British institution, similar to the Duchess of Sussex, but soon departed for the US after a dramatic split.

Some critics think the notion that she was a Svengali-like creature who captured John Lennon and purposefully brought about the dissolution of the greatest band of all time was a sexist and racist myth.

Similar to how some have questioned Meghan’s part in Harry’s on-going verbal battle with the royal family, others believe it is unjust to hold her responsible for his choice to leave his family and fire missiles from the US at Buckingham Palace.

The Duchess of Sussex has been absent from the media frenzy around the publication of the Duke of Sussex’s new book, Spare.

The pair previously shared screen time on their Netflix specials and in their explosive interview with Opray Winfrey, during which they leveled racial charges against the royal family, which Harry attempted to retract on Sunday.

On Bruni’s post, one user said, “No. Not amusing. Why would you publish anything that was so offensive? Seriously. Why do you encourage bigotry and lend your support to divisive speech?

“Meghan has received many recent death threats, Yoko had a threat many years ago, and then John was killed… A lot about you is revealed in this post. It’s disappointing, too.

Someone more said, “This is insulting and discriminatory against women of color. I love you so much, and it saddens me to see you reaching such a low level on your social media platform.”

‘Carla Bruni, a white lady, continues to blame WOC [women of color] for the choices their white spouses make,’ a Twitter user commented.

Many criticised Bruni's post, saying in her Instagram comments how it was 'demeaning' and 'condoning racism'

Funny how they never point the finger at the white women partners. I’m sorry, but I used to adore Carla. I’ve had it with her.

Another person said: “I’ve always given Carla Bruni a lot more credit.” It was not merited. Most white women would embrace the opportunity to clown if given the chance.

Meg had nothing to do with Harry’s decision, just as Yoko had nothing to do with the Beatles breaking up (heck, all groups break up at some time).

After courting prominent philosopher and TV personality Raphael Enthoven and his publisher and novelist father Jean-Paul Enthoven, Bruni, Sarkozy’s third wife, previously courted controversy in France.

According to his wife Jerry Hall, she allegedly had an on-and-off relationship with Mick Jagger while she was in her 20s, which led to their divorce.

In 1990, she reportedly had a short romance with artist Eric Clapton.

Donald Trump allegedly had a short liaison with the model, but the model claimed that the US president had made these allegations up.

Harry and Meghan, both 41, moved to California from the UK in early 2020 and have been living at a $14.65 million house in Montecito with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, since early 2021.

Harry has acknowledged that he doesn’t think his family will ever return permanently to the UK or the royal life, but he has also suggested that he and Meghan won’t give up their titles.

In an interview with 60 Minutes on Sunday, Anderson Cooper questioned why, if they want a quiet life free from the spotlight, they did not renounce their titles as duke and duchess.

One of the complaints you’ve heard is that you should go to California and take a break from your institutional job, Cooper remarked.

“Why be so visible? Why would you divulge talks you’ve had with your brother or father?

You claim to have attempted to accomplish this in secret.

Every every time I’ve attempted to do it secretly, there have been leaks, briefings, and rumors planted against me and my wife. Harry retorted.

The family’s credo is “Never complain, never explain,” you know.

However, it is just a motto. And it’s not truly true.

On January 8, 2020, the pair declared that they will relinquish their royal responsibilities.

They said in a joint statement at the time that it had taken them “many months of contemplation and internal talks” to come to their conclusion.

They said that their goal was to “strive for financial independence while still providing Her Majesty The Queen with the most assistance possible.”
