TikTok user warns Aussies about three occupations

An entrepreneur argued on TikTok that dentists, security guards, and drivers are the worst careers for Australians because they are easily replaceable by robots.

This Thursday, Li Liang, who styles himself as a teacher and social media entrepreneur, identified the occupations he believes are most at risk of being automated away in Australia.

He acknowledged that his selections would be contentious, but emphasized that he had done his homework and provided various justifications for his selections.

Li Liang, who defines himself on social media as a teacher and entrepreneur, stated that the transportation industry, including bus, taxi, and truck drivers, is the worst profession.

He acknowledged that his picks would be contentious, claiming that dentistry, security (pictured), and transportation are the worst professions for Australians to pursue.

Despite its relative popularity, Mr. Liang ranked dentistry as the third worst profession, citing a 2017 study in which a robot performed a dental procedure.

Mr. Liang stated, citing a Time magazine story, that a Chinese robot completed its first dental implant in 2017.

Five years later, he feels robots are only becoming better, citing the FDA’s approval for the Yomi Robot to do oral surgery in the United States.

The robot aids in both the planning and surgical phases of the dental implant surgery, guiding surgeons and providing support.

In January, it was claimed that more than 10,000 dental implants with the Yomi system had been performed in the United States.

Mr. Liang highlights the seven years of study and expensive expense of a dental degree for Australians and asserts that there are “better alternatives.”

In security, which he deems the second-worst profession, the TikToker asserts that a “huge” number of robots are already in use.

He referenced the Cobalt, a Yelp-designed robot security guard, as evidence of the dwindling role of humans in the future of the industry.

Mr. Liang stated, “With its array of HD cameras, infrared cameras, and a multitude of other sensors and listening devices, it can identify the presence of something that is not supposed to be there much more effectively than a human security guard could.”

He concludes that a job in transportation, particularly as a bus, truck, or taxi driver, is the worst option for Australians.

Mr. Liang asserts that the entire sector is on the threshold of automation, citing Tesla’s iconic autopilot cars as an illustration.

Despite its relative popularity, Mr. Liang ranked dentistry as the third worst profession, citing a 2017 study in which a robot performed a dental procedure.

According to him, every major automaker is pursuing electric vehicles with autonomous driving, and he recommends those already in the sector to switch occupations, begin investing, or find a side hustle.

His viewpoints sparked debate on TikTok, with some users defending him and others refuting his allegations.

One fan stated, “I concur.” The future of labor is hardly discussed.’

Another person stated, “Couldn’t agree more regarding transportation, particularly taxis and trucks. sooner is better than later.

However, one critic questioned, “How can a robot stop an intruder?” It may aid in detecting them, but not in preventing them. In fact, I believe that security is a career that cannot be replaced.

While another stated, “These security bots are only useful as a supplement to an existing human team on most websites,” We’ve tested them and found them to be useless, nothing more than a camera on wheels.’

And a third added: ‘EV trucks in Australia… we don’t have the infrastructure in the Outback and likely won’t for a long time.’
