In a recent viral video, Jasmine Darya remarked, “OK, we have to talk about Selena Gomez’s makeup routine real quick because I have never seen anyone do any of this stuff that she’s doing. I have to wonder if she’s on another level.”

Darya pointed out that Gomez, 30, starts by washing her face with La Mer’s $500 Concentrate serum and said that the majority of the items she used were gifts.

Thus, a $500 serum. And she applied makeup before using that, which I’ve never heard of anyone doing, to break up the makeup on her face, Darya remarked. It appears to be the most opulent oil washing I have ever seen, in my opinion.

Gomez then started taking off her makeup with a white towel and Bioderma’s Sensibio H2O Micellar Water ($17), which Darya thought was “so crazy.”

She said, “It’s really funny to me because I feel like I have, like, two white towels in my apartment and I hate when I get makeup on them. She takes the Bioderma, which I also use and adore, on a white towel. “Like, I have no idea. Is it just me, or? I became so irate. But she deliberately applied it to a white towel to remove her makeup, which is just so posh. I simply cannot handle it.

After using the Multi-Active Toner ($39) from Dermologica with reusable Face Halo pads ($22), which the TikToker deemed “normal” and “better for the environment,” Gomez began applying a colored under-eye cream in an unusual act just before night.

She just removed her makeup, so I’m thinking this is her nighttime ritual. She then applies this Rare Beauty radiance under-eye cream serum ($24), but it’s colored, which I love the concept of this product, Darya added. Since I’ve never used colored eye cream before bed, I’m wondering if I should purchase it. “Honestly, that’s sort of great. I’m genuinely drawn to this idea, to be honest.

Last but not least, Gomez “so smartly” removed her eye makeup with a Beauty Blender ($20).

“This was the final occurrence that I felt was somewhat unusual. She applies the Micellar Bioderma whatever water to a Beauty Blender and removes her eye makeup,” she said. “That is actually really smart, but I have never seen anyone do that.”

“I feel like if you have lash extensions or something where you can’t wipe your eye, because it looked like she was just going around it, but then I’ve never seen anyone do that, and I think it’s so interesting,” the social media personality continued.

Darya also told her viewers that she wasn’t trying to be “mean” or “critical” or “hating on” Gomez; rather, she was merely “stunned at this routine.”

“I’m not sure. She posted, writing in the caption, “She’s lowkey genius,” and said, “I know I sound like a psycho, but I thought her routine was really crazy, full of things I’ve never seen before, and she’s ahead of her time.”

Many TikTok fans crowded the comments section to debate Gomez’s unusual routine.

One user remarked, “I was likewise truly confused.

A second concurred, saying, “No, I agree, this is the wackiest bedtime routine I’ve seen.”

Another remarked, “No, the makeup on the white towel had me stressed too.”

A fourth said in jest, “The La Mer makeup remover feels illegal.”

“I have no idea what to do with this knowledge. Genius or psycho is uncertain,” said a different person.

Another said, “I couldn’t tell if she was putting on or taking off [makeup].”

The founder of Rare Beauty uses a confusing and expensive skincare regimen. The entire regimen, including the pricey La Mer and the less expensive Rare Beauty brightener and Bioderma creams, comes to about $650.
