A woman who previously accused Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears of molesting her has withdrawn her lawsuit against them.
Jane Doe, age 22, filed a civil suit against the defendants last month on behalf of herself and her brother, accusing them of intentional infliction of emotional distress, gross negligence, sexual battery, sexual harassment, and sexual abuse of a minor in relation to a 2014 comedy sketch titled “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes.”
She has now asked for the case to be dismissed with prejudice, which means she cannot refile the same claims.
The woman, who also accused the “Girls Trip” actor of negligent supervision/failure to warn, breach of fiduciary duty, and constructive fraud, told TMZ: “My family and I have known Tiffany Haddish for many years, and we now know that she would never harm me or my brother, nor would she assist anyone in doing so.
“We wish Tiffany the best and are relieved to put this matter to rest.”
After the lawsuit was filed, Haddish said that she “truly regretted” her participation in the sexually graphic sketch, which was taped in 2013 and published on “Funny Or Die” in 2014 before being withdrawn four years later.
In an Instagram post, she stated, “I understand that many people have doubts. I got it. I am exactly where you are.
“Unfortunately, due to an ongoing legal proceeding, I can say very little at this time.
“However, despite the fact that this sketch was intended to be humorous, it was not at all funny, and I really regret having consented to perform in it.
“As soon as I can, I look forward to sharing a great deal more about this circumstance.”
Additionally, her attorney described the action as “frivolous.”
Andrew B Brettler stated in a statement, “Plaintiff’s mother has attempted to bring these false charges against Ms. Haddish for numerous years.
“Every attorney who first took on Ms. Haddish’s case — and there were a number of them — dropped the matter after it became evident that the allegations were without merit and Ms. Haddish would not be intimidated.
“Now, (the mother) is represented in this action by her adult daughter.” Together, they will suffer the repercussions of pursuing this frivolous case.”
Meanwhile, Aries’s attorney Debra Opri stated, “He will not succumb to any intimidation.”
