The police have apprehended a dreaded criminal group that caused terror in the Johannesburg neighborhood of Hillbrow.
After being caught in the act, the three suspects who can be seen on social media recordings strangling and robbing victims along Twist and Peterson streets are now charged with common robbery.
On New Year’s Eve, according to Xolani Fihla, a spokesperson for the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department, an undercover team was stationed at a certain place to observe and pounce on the gang.
“While observing, four individuals attacked a male victim unaware of their presence. While the others were searching the victim, one suspect was strangling him. “The officers moved swiftly and immediately apprehended the three perpetrators,” said Fihla.
The three is allegedly part of a gang of crooks that have terrorized the Hillbrow neighborhood. The crooks, who allegedly used the Vannin Court as a hiding, are anticipated in court shortly.
