The Prime Minister Boris Johnson spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to update on progress and discussions held at G7 and NATO last week

This morning, the prime minister updated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the developments and conversations that took place at the G7 and NATO last week.

The Prime Minister provided an update on the most recent UK military equipment, including 10 self-propelled artillery systems and loitering munitions, which would be arriving in the upcoming days and weeks. President Zelenskyy described the present situation in Ukraine and recent Russian advances.

The world was behind Ukraine, according to the prime minister, and he thought President Zelenskyy’s military could regain previously taken land by Putin’s soldiers.

The leaders agreed that it was crucial to move grain out of Ukraine as soon as possible, and the prime minister stated that the UK continued to closely collaborate with allies on the following steps and remained ready to assist in any way.

The leaders also spoke about the cases of Ukrainian fighters with British ancestry who had recently been taken prisoner by Russian forces.

The Prime Minister said he supported Ukraine’s ambitions for reconstruction and looked forward to the UK hosting the conference in 2019. He was speaking about yesterday’s recovery and reconstruction conference for Ukraine in Lugano.

The Prime Minister mentioned that the UK had asked the EBU to take Ukraine’s suggestions for the contest into consideration during their discussion on Eurovision 2023.
