The N3 toll highway has seen heavy traffic

Almost 1,500 vehicles per hour have been recorded during peak hours on the toll road N3 this week, as returning vacationers clog the roadway.

Volumes of between 1,500 and 2,000 vehicles per hour might be attained between 15:00 and 21:00 from tomorrow, January 1, 2023, through January 3, 2023, according to projections.

Increased traffic increases the risk of collisions and roadside emergencies.
When traffic levels reach this level, roadways become crowded, heightening the possibility of collisions, breakdowns, and other roadside issues.

Under these conditions, traffic may move considerably more slowly, and unforeseen delays may develop.

The N3 Toll Concession (N3TC) warns motorists to expect the unexpected and prepare for additional obstacles during this period.

They request that drivers be patient and considerate.

Frustrated drivers become careless, which might result in life-threatening decisions.

N3TC advises motorists to schedule their trips to avoid rush hour wherever possible.

Along the N3 toll road, more law enforcement and emergency services have been deployed to increase traffic safety.

Throughout the busy season, incident management services will have a greater presence throughout the route.

The Road Traffic Inspectorate may execute traffic flow management and congestion prevention measures.

This is done for safety reasons, especially along Van Reenen Pass.

Thania Dhoogra, operations manager of N3TC, said, “All motorists are asked to join our efforts to keep traffic flowing by obeying the regulations of the road at all times and taking responsibility for their own and other road users’ safety.”
