The Cost-of-Living Crisis: prices of 1,500 own-brand products frozen by Boots until the end of the year

Boots has declared that the prices of over 1,500 products will be frozen for customers to be able to afford them throughout the current recession.

The High Street pharmacy says it would maintain its own-brand toothpaste, shampoo, nappies, and shower gel pricing till the end of the year.

Millions of families have been forced to tighten their belts as a result of the cost of living issue, which has seen increasing energy bills and rampant inflation put a strain on household finances.

The move was made to comfort customers during the cost-of-living crisis, according to Steve Ager, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer at Boots UK. He said, ‘We always try to offer great value and the best price for our customers. In pulling together the list of products to include in the Price Lock Promise, we reviewed the lines that customers buy most regularly as well as those that are deemed to be day-to-day essentials’.

He added that ‘We want customers to feel reassured that the prices of a large selection of health and beauty favourites will be staying the same, helping them to continue to buy the quality lines they love at Boots.’

The retailer further stated that its ‘newly expanded’ range would provide for their customers ‘trusted quality and expertise at low prices’.

Aside from the price freezes, 100 Boots products are now available for £1 or less, and 1000 for £2 or less as th e cheapest goods start at just 40p.

The high street pharmacist also stated that it offers specials and promotions on over 1,300 products at any given moment throughout its outlets.

Boots Advantage Card holders receive exceptional savings on over 400 products each month as part of the freshly introduced Price Advantage scheme.

The scheme has helped customers save almost £8 million to date, with an average saving of £2.65 per product.

Over a million customers have already taken advantage of the Price Advantage program to save money on their shopping.

It also donates its products to The Hygiene Bank, a charity that helps those in need of hygiene products.

Since 2020, Boots has contributed over 680,000 products to the scheme, and customers can also help by donating at donation stations in over 470 locations or through e-vouchers on boots.com.

Boots’ action mirrors that of Superdrug, which recently imposed a price freeze on 100 of its most important products before increasing it to another 30.
