Krysten Pacheco, a 29-year-old Texas mother-of-two, had both her hands and feet amputated after going into septic shock days after giving birth to her daughter via C-section in October.
Two days after being discharged from the hospital, Krysten started feeling feverish and was later airlifted to a hospital in San Antonio, where she was diagnosed with septic shock.
Despite efforts to save her limbs, the infection caused so much damage that her legs were amputated at the knees, and her arms were amputated from her elbows.
Krysten spent three months in the hospital and one month in rehab before finally being allowed to go home on February 11. She will receive prosthetics after further rehabilitation.
Despite her struggle and feelings of guilt about missing her baby’s first three months of life, Krysten is looking forward to catching up on lost time with her daughter and being a family again.
