Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at King’s Cross station after’stranger’ attempted to ‘drag woman towards train rails’

This afternoon at 1.26 p.m., British Transport Police (BTP) officers were dispatched to the Hammersmith and City Line in response to allegations of a “severe incident.”

Although the inquiry is at an early stage, it is believed that the duo did not know each other.

While the woman was left uninjured, the man was hospitalized for head injuries and arrested for attempted murder.

The BTP spokesperson said: ‘It’s believed a man attempted to pull a woman onto the tracks, before being hit by the train himself.

‘The woman was thankfully unharmed, but understandably shaken up.

‘While enquiries into the incident are at an early stage, it’s not believed the two were known to each other.

‘The man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and taken to hospital for treatment to head injuries.’

Following the incident, there have been severe delays on the Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City line services following the incident. Tickets are being accepted on London buses.
