As the city’s homelessness situation worsens, a homeless Oregon woman has been arrested and charged with pushing a three-year-old girl onto a railway track in a horrifying moment captured on film.
On Thursday, Brianna Lace Workman, 32, reportedly threw the young girl onto the Gateway Transit Center MAX platform in Portland.
The little child, dressed in a pink coat, was standing in line with her mother when someone in a red hat, apparently Workman, pushed her face-first over the metal barrier.
Onlookers helped drag her back onto the platform. She claimed to be suffering from a bad headache, and the local district attorney stated that she had a red mark on her forehead.

According to court documents, Workman is both homeless and resides in Portland.
According to the district attorney’s office, the youngster did nothing to trigger the attack, and the woman abruptly appeared out of nowhere and shoved her.
Workman was charged on Thursday with attempted assault in the first and third degrees, interfering with public transportation, disorderly conduct, and reckless endangerment.
The district attorney’s office has recommended that she remain in detention.
‘At Ms. Workman’s request, I am not demanding her release at this time, but I am objecting to the state’s motion of preventative detention,’ her attorney said in a statement.
Portland is rife with homelessness, with the mayor planning to build pickleball courts, a skate ramp, and a bicycle track in an area known for homeless camps.
Democrat Ted Wheeler has been blamed for an increase in violence, with Portland establishing a new high for homicides in 2021.

Tent cities have taken over the streets, which are now filled with trash, scaring away both locals and tourists.
Portland has seen an alarming increase in homelessness in recent years.

In 2019, the city registered slightly more than 2,000 homeless people.
In less than three years, that number has increased by half, to more than 3,000 people living on the streets.
