A skiing instructor service has come under fire for an advertisement displayed on the London Underground, which features the phrase “face shot”.
The ad is intended to promote the service’s guides, who know the best spots for experiencing the effect of fresh snow spraying one’s face when skiing in deep snow.
However, the ad has been criticised by Romsey & Southampton North MP Caroline Nokes, who tweeted that “we all know what the other reference is…”.
She described the advert as “hideous”, arguing that children are exposed to such content daily on public transport.
The advertising campaign has divided opinion, with some defending the phrase as a reference to a genuine skiing term, while others have described it as crass and in poor taste.
This controversy is not the first time that advertisements on the London Underground have caused outrage, with previous campaigns promoting cosmetic surgery in Turkey and cannabis delivery services also drawing criticism.
