Builders working on a £1million house in Cowdrey Road, Wimbledon made a macabre discovery in September 2017, when they uncovered the shallow grave of a man who had been murdered in the 1960s.
The victim had been bludgeoned to death and dismembered, his remains left in a shallow grave in the rear garden of a four-bed Victorian terrace.
A 3D image of the victim has been released by Scotland Yard in an attempt to identify him. He was dressed in a shirt, tie, and trousers, and was of Asian ancestry, aged between 35 and 55, and around 5ft 7in with a muscular build.
The remains were forensically excavated and a post-mortem confirmed the victim had received a traumatic head wound before being dismembered.

The homeowner said the builders thought they had found a model skeleton used by medical students before realizing it was real.
She added, “I was in total shock.
We called the police, and the forensics came; it was like we were in the middle of a crime drama.
I didn’t tell my children as I did not want to scare them.”

Detective chief inspector Kate Kieran, who is leading the investigation, is appealing to the public for help in identifying the victim.
Carbon dating has established that the man was buried in the early 1960s.
A clothing expert has confirmed that his shirt, red silk tie, trousers, shoes, and socks were all typical of that era.
