Police find a dismembered body in a popular Paris park

Prosecutors said on Wednesday that a dismembered corpse discovered in a renowned Paris park this week belonged to a woman who had just gone missing.

Investigators in Paris determined that the remains belonged to “a 46-year-old woman whose husband reported her missing on February 6” using the victim’s fingerprints.

Prosecutors claimed the couple resided in the Seine-Saint-Denis district, northeast of Paris.

Until today, police investigating the case had found no leads.

On Monday afternoon, park workers discovered a woman’s lower body in a plastic bag buried under leaves.

According to a police source, it was still wearing blue pants with a flowery design.

Police discovered other remains, including the head, following a comprehensive search of the area on Tuesday morning.

While the search was underway, the mountainous Buttes-Chaumont park, a favourite site for families and runners, was closed until Tuesday afternoon.

It was built during Napoleon III’s enormous relandscaping of the French city in the nineteenth century, and it most recently figured in the third season of “Emily in Paris” as the scene for a romantic picnic.
