Secretary of State has appointed Will Harding as a member of the Ofcom Board

The Secretary of State has appointed Will Harding as a member of the Ofcom Board for a four year term from 3 October 2022 to 2 October 2026.

Will Harding

Will Harding has over thirty years of media industry experience.

He began his career as a management consultant at KPMG, and then spent five years at BBC Worldwide (now BBC Studios) working throughout the commercial and international operations of the BBC.

He left the BBC in 2000 to help launch ask.com in the United Kingdom and subsequently went to Sky, where he climbed to the position of Commercial and Operations Director for Sky’s new media division.

He joined GCap Media plc in 2006 as Director of Group Strategy.

Following the 2008 purchase of GCap by Global Media & Entertainment Ltd, he was named Global’s Chief Strategy Officer and joined the Global board of directors.

During his tenure at Global, Will was responsible for developing the Global Academy, a public school in Hayes, west London, for students of all backgrounds who want to enter the creative professions.

In December 2020, he will step down from the Global Media and Entertainment Ltd board.

Will has been a Trustee of the Baker Dearing Educational Trust and a Non-Executive Director of Primedia, the largest Africa-focused media and advertising group, since 2021.

He is married and has three children, and he resides in south-west London.

Remuneration and Governance Code

Members of the Ofcom Board receive £42,519 per annum. This appointment has been made in accordance with the Cabinet Office’s Governance Code on Public Appointments. The appointments process is regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. Under the Code, any significant political activity undertaken by an appointee in the last five years must be declared. This is defined as including holding office, public speaking, making a recordable donation, or candidature for election. Will Harding has declared no such activity.
