»Season 1 Ending of ‘Willow’ Explained: End Credits Scene Teases Season 2… And Season 3?«

Spoilers for the Season 1 finale of Willow on Disney+ are forthcoming. You’ve been warned!

Elora Danan (Ellie Bamber) against The Crone appeared in the eighth episode of the first season of Willow, titled “Children of the Wyrm” (Rosabell Laurenti Sellers as Lili, Jane Carr in full Crone glory). After Elora and Kit (Ruby Cruz) realized that Airk (Dempsey Bryk) had been transformed into darkness by the Crone, they attempted to free him from her enchantment. While Elora was almost seduced by the Wyrm’s promises of happiness, Willow (Warwick Davis) arrived just in time to save her and her friends, who had been transformed into stone. Numerous events transpired in the Willow finale, gentlemen. Elora fought the Crone, Kit restored Airk to life, and Graydon (Tony Revolori) appeared to expire at the hands of the Crone. But did he?

The last moments of Season 1 of Willow not only prove that Graydon survived, but also hint that he will be the Wyrm’s Harbinger in future seasons. Indeed, the final credits of Season 1 of Willow indicate that what we’ve been viewing is only the first volume of a three-volume saga. The Crone may have been defeated, but her master, the Wyrm, continues to plot his vengeance.

But what exactly does the conclusion of Season 1 of Willow mean? Is Graydon a nasty guy now? And is it certain that Disney+ will produce future seasons of Willow? Here is what we know about the conclusion of Season 1 of Willow and the potential for Seasons 2 and 3…

Let’s rewind. The strategy of the Crone appears to be to recruit as many of our heroes as possible to the Wyrm’s side. Ideally, she would have recruited both Kit and Airk in addition to Elora Danan. When Elora rejects the Wyrm’s imagined existence for her – a happily ever after with Airk — the Crone engages her in combat. Graydon, equipped with Cherlinda’s wand, employs his newly acquired magic to confront the Crone on behalf of Elora. Despite his efforts, he is blasted directly into what I’ll refer to as “Wyrm World.” Graydon seems to be deceased.

Elora eventually defeats the Crone with the assistance of Willow. However, when a mind-controlled Airk frets about Lili’s death, she asserts that this was always the plan. She kisses Airk, infusing him with her power and converting him into the Wyrm’s Herald. Kit can only defeat him with the aid of the Kymeri Cuirass and the knowledge that she can still reach her brother via love. Airk will finally return to the light.

As the group departs from Immemoriam City, Elora is drawn back to the Wyrm’s chamber. We later discover that Graydon is indeed still alive. However, the Wyrm constructs for him a battlefield rather than an ideal garden filled with loved ones. Graydon is told by a leather-clad, short-haired Elora Danan that she “wants” him to join her in the next struggle to bring her light to the world. He is obviously captivated by this and has no problem with her army of monsters.

Since Airk proved unsuccessful, it appears that the Wyrm has altered its strategy. Graydon will be possessed a third time and transform into the Harbinger of the Wyrm. Therefore, if Willow returns for Season 2, Graydon will likely be the primary opponent. Will there be additional Willow?

If you stayed through the end credits of Willow’s season finale, you would have received a tantalizing glimpse of what may be to come. You are aware that each episode begins with a “chapter” page, correct? As if the show were an adaptation of a well-known fantasy novel? At the conclusion of Season 1 of Willow, the “book” we’ve been reading is closed and returned to the shelf.

The great surprise is that we’ve only seen the first volume in a three-part series. There are still unexplored chapters in Volumes II and III.

The final credits of Willow hint at least two additional seasons of the Disney+ series. However, does this imply that Disney+ will produce two more seasons of Willow?

Will There Be a Season 2 or Season 3 of Willow on Disney+?

Despite what the first season’s end credits suggest, we still do not know if Disney+ plans to produce additional seasons of Willow. Disney+’s Willow has yet to make an impact in Nielsen’s streaming charts, indicating it is not the smash hit the company had hoped for. However, this is not really shocking. The film Willow is, after all, a cult classic.

Certainly, Warwick Davis will return for several seasons of Willow. Before the release of the Disney+ miniseries, Decider spoke with the iconic actor, who stated, “Eight episodes wasn’t enough to convey this story. To put it another way:

Let’s hope that Disney+ will continue to sponsor this insane and bizarre experience.
